Our Network 

The Franchise Accountants Network is for accountants who work in and serve the franchise sector.

Our network includes accountants who specialise in providing advice to franchisors and franchisees. The network includes:

  • Accountants who work with franchisees. They can provide advice for franchise buyers and franchise owners.

  • Accountants who work as CFO’s and Senior Finance Managers within the franchisor businesses. Through FAN then are able to meet with other franchise accountants to discuss the current issues they face and gain CPD training.

  • Accountants who work in public practice who provide franchise accounting for their franchisor clients.

Wherever you fit, or what you are looking for, the Franchise Accountants Network is for you. We hold regular discussion groups and networking events, at least twice per year. We alternate between Sydney and Melbourne with strong attendance whenever we hold events.

Our flagship event is the Franchise Accountants Conference. This full day event is specifically designed for accountants who work in the franchise sector, or have clients who do. It brings together top speakers who present on the hot topics of the day.  The focus is on relevant, practical advice which can be used in the workplace.

Peter Knight, M.Ec FCPA (Co-founder)

Peter is the creator and co-founder of The Franchise Accountants Network. He's also Director of Franchise Accounting & Tax, a specialist franchise accounting firm. As a specialist franchise accountant he has over 20 years experience in this area. He is an excellent communicator and can explain business and financial matters in ways business people can understand. This helps them make sense of their information and make better decisions.

He is a qualified Chartered Accountant, a former President of CPA Australia (NSW), author, blogger and regularly presents at conferences throughout Australia and overseas.

The area he is most interested in is helping business owners get well established, then looking for ways to improve their business. He has vast experience in financial due diligence. He has helped hundreds of prospective purchasers evaluate a business before they buy, as well as assisting other business owners on the sale of their franchise.

Kate Groom B.A. (Hons) (Co-founder)

Kate helps clients improve productivity, profitability and cash flow through better business management. Her background includes franchise accounting, franchise advice and franchising business concepts across 4 countries.

Kate has significant experience in the following areas:

Franchising: General Manager, executive and operations roles in the areas of support, sales and marketing, franchise sales, business and change management.

Benchmarking & Performance Improvement: Designed and implemented financial benchmarking programs for franchises. Created and facilitated industry leading peer support programs (Performance Groups)

Strategic Planning and Goals: Kate has designed and delivered planning sessions for franchisees and clients. She has also developed and implemented many business plans which have been successfully implemented within franchise businesses.
